Shot Blast Floor Marking
To obtain any sort of durability on markings or coatings then the substrate needs to be adequately prepared to enable a clear key between the materials. As a minimum, we would always advise that shot blast preparation needs to be undertaken and is a process where a machine fires small metal ball beads to the concrete slab in a controlled process.
The impact of this process causes the surface area of the slab to break up and come away and leaves a clean area for materials to be applied to. The machinery involved within the process is all self-contained so no dust or debris will affect the working area with the team also covering the working area with a magnetic sweeper and hoover prior to any new paint application.
Markings or coatings prepared in this way have a much longer lifespan than markings that are unprepared, scabbled or grinded due to the fact that the shot blast process evenly covers all the area it passes whereas other methods can be very sporadic and uneven coverage meaning some sections of the paint application could not key as required and leading to failure over time.
